Important Information

To get started playing rugby there are a few legal requirements and team requirements to be a part of our sanctioned events. The only equipment needed are cleats, a mouthguard, and tight, sturdy shorts you can part with if they get ripped. As well as (1) getting USA Rugby Insurance through Rugby Xplorer, (2) paying dues to be on the team, and (3) signing our liability waiver.

“Getting CIPPed” refers to the process of purchasing player insurance through USA Rugby. CIPP stands for Club and Individual Participation Program. It is vital that every member who will be playing with the Betterside/Bettergriz is CIPPed, if one player on the team is not, it invalidates the team insurance and makes it unusable.

  • Tournaments/Games, especially played outside of Montana, will often require you to provide your CIPP number, this is your access to playing national games/tournaments.

  • USA Rugby offers ‘Accident Insurance’ and ‘Liability Insurance’ to individuals and teams. The Liability Insurance covers the team in the case that we were to get sued from accidents that occur through accidental injury during play.

  • Accident Insurance is secondary insurance to cover medical expenses for injuries sustained during a sanctioned event that are not covered by your primary insurance, please look on the website to get more information about what it covers.

  • All players, coaches, referees, and administration needs to renew their CIPP every year to be eligible to participate in sanctioned events.

How do I Pay Dues?

  • Pay dues by Venmoing our treasurer, Laura

  • @Laura-Elsner

Full Year or Social Members: $100

One Season: $50

Dues ensure that we have enough money to cover tournament fees, food for the social, and equipment for the season. Paying dues also guarantees you will get a voice at our meetings, votes for chairs, and votes for our Maggotfest costume. If you are a social member (a member who is not playing) you can also pay and that will guarantee you food at any home social, votes during our annual meetings/chair positions, and a vote for our Maggotfest costume.

Step Three: Sign our Waiver

Virtually sign our waiver through Google Forms, you only need to do this once, not every year!

MAGGOT CLUBHOUSE

@2026 Betterside Women's Rugby, non-profit

We acknowledge that we are on the traditional homelands of the Séliš (Salish), Ql̓ispé (Kalispel and Pend d’Oreille), and Ksanka (Kootenai) peoples. These tribes have lived on and stewarded this land since time immemorial, maintaining deep cultural, spiritual, and ecological connections to this place.

Missoula sits within the aboriginal territories of these Indigenous nations, whose histories, languages, and traditions continue today through the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. We honor their past, present, and future, and recognize our responsibility to learn from and respect the original caretakers of this land.
